If you are traveling from abroad bring your passport or your birth certificate.

You will receive a tourist VISA (FMT), please keep it safe as you will need to return it during departure.

Dollars are accepted in most places.

The teller machines only accept Visa & Master Card.

Visa & Master Card are accepted most everywhere.

Gratuities are customarily  5-15% of the service cost.

American Express is accepted only in the main hotels & big shops. All other credit cards are not accepted in La Paz.  

You can pay with travelers checks to the main hotels & banks. You may also change them at the exchange houses as small shops and restaurants usually do not accept travelers checks.

Travel insurance is highly recommended to cover occasional luggage/equipment loss, hotel overbooking or trip cancellation due to weather or other acts of God.
