Grey Whale Watching & Camping in Mag Bay  |
The Great Whales of Baja | Pathways into Viscaino  Bio Reserve

 (January – April 2005)

Explore one of Mexico’s most extraordinary regions during an 8-day & 7 night excursion. In the northern portion of Baja California Sur, between the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez, lays The Vizcaino Bioreserve. Distinguished by its contrasting landscapes, valleys, sierras, peaks, and coastal lagoons, and for its outstanding prehistoric human heritage, and incomparable biodiversity.

During the first part of this expedition we descend the Sierra of San Francisco by mules, visit the Cochimi rupestrian cave paintings and camp for three nights. On the 4th day we travel to San Ignacio town, spend the night at a quaint local B&B and rest. Next morning we drive to San Ignacio to see the one of the world’s only bays where gray whales mate and give birth. Here we whale watch and camp for four days and three nights.

Trip Includes:
Three nights camping at the Sierra San Francisco, 4th night at San Ignacio town, four days whale watching at San Ignacio lagoon and three nights camping at San Ignacio lagoon. All camping equipment, guide naturalist, local ranchero guides at Sierra San Francisco, the mules, whale watching vessels for three days, all meals and beverages except on arrival and departure days to San Ignacio.

Trip Does Not Include:
Airfare to San Ignacio, meals on arrival and departure dates, airport taxes, crew tips, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, or dry bags (rentals are available upon request.)

Trip Intenerary:
Four nights of the trip will be spent at Sierra San Francisco and four at San Ignacio lagoon. On the sixth day we travel to San Ignacio town, spend the night at a local quaint B&B and rest.
